Inside ICI
Best Wishes to an Industry Icon

hat can you say about someone who always seems
to have been there for you, and then the time comes in their life to move on? Many of us would be left short on words, knowing that words
alone could never express the gratitude and appreciation for that individual which has grown over decades.
In the unlikely chance
that you have not heard it through the grapevine, I am

Wisconsin Precision Casting, who recently made the decision to leave our industry for a new, outstanding opportunity. As a result, Cliff tendered his resignation from the ICI Board of Directors at our January meeting. Cliff has been an ICI Director since since 1996.
I first learned of his
departure several weeks ago, when, at the end of a business discussion, Cliff said: “There is one more thing to address. Are you sitting down?” he continued, “This next Board meeting will be my last.” He then shared his good news, advising me that he would be making the announcement to the industry at the next meeting of the Board of Directors.

what it is, it was not long before I was receiving phone call after call: “Did you hear?” “Hear what?” I would reply, trying not to undermine Cliff’s big announcement. It seems that everyone had heard the news the minute Cliff shared the information with the people at Wisconsin Precision.

I cannot speak for others, but the news had a somber effect on myself and the ICI staff. Happy for Cliff, yet saddened for the departure of someone who had become as much of a fixture on the Board as people like Larry Communale or Jerry Donohue had ever been or as Nip Singh
is currently.
These men have made great contributions to the industry through decades of service, and we have benefited from their efforts.
With Cliff moving on,
we have lost a champion for monthly surveys, a creative leader who can think out of the box, and a good friend to all of us.
As for me, I
have been fortunate to have worked with Cliff these past six years.
I have always
found him to be a person who listens with intent, offers constructive
criticism
true leader. Cliff, you will be missed.
Best of luck in your future endeavors.
