FROM THE Director
As the new Director of the Families Federation, I am really excited to be writing my first short piece for Envoy and about the prospect of getting out and about to further develop my understanding of the issues you are encountering. As you read this I will have been in post for a few weeks, so still very much getting to grips with the role. I don’t come from a complete standing start though! As an ex-serving RAF officer with a partner still serving, I have lived through a few of the challenges military life has to offer - and been amazed at the resilience of the families I know. I come to the Families Federation from a very different role (as a Director for an IT firm) but also with a background in the Civil Service working with a wide range of Ministers, private companies and public bodies to deliver positive change. I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the Federation to lead
the next phase in the vital work the team does. There are some really significant pieces of work underway
to transform how housing is delivered, the opening up of flexible working, and support for military partners careers. All these changes are because of the concerns that families have raised, and we will be working closely with the bodies responsible for delivering them to keep you informed, and continually feed in your voice.
