Update from the InDependent Spouse
A lot has happened since I was last featured in Envoy! I’ve started a new InDependent Spouse YouTube channel which gives a behind-the- scenes look at my own attempts to balance business life with being a military spouse. From being the new girl at networking, to how I am building my business through a posting, and even an accidental tour of my very ugly married quarter carpets - you can see it all!
I’m also starting to prepare for series two of the InDependent Spouse podcast – I have some really exciting interviews lined up that I can’t wait to share with you all!
Best of all, I’m starting to get some great feedback from the first series of the podcast. The other day I received a message from a stranger on Facebook…
Jess, I hope you don’t mind me messaging you. I have been married to my RAF husband for 13 years and spent this summer
moving from one side of the country to the other for his posting. I’ve also been training for a half marathon and have been listening to your highly motivational podcasts. Today I launched my new business and I wanted to message you to say thank you for inspiring me to jump into this new chapter of my life and just ‘give it a go’*
So if you’re living this crazy ‘magnolia wall life’ and running your own business, want to look behind the scenes of a military spouse business owner, or even if you’re training for a half-marathon then The InDependent Spouse is for you!

Suzy Oliver.
After eight years of running a successful Personal Training and Physiotherapy company in Oxfordshire, Suzy began her new e-commerce career with her current multi award winning business Mama + Belle® in early 2014, shortly after her husband
joined the RAF. Mama + Belle specialises in safe, stylish chewable teething jewellery including necklaces, bangles, bracelets and dummy clips.
Fast forwarding 4.5 years on Mama + Belle is now an award winning business sold in retailers all over the UK and Europe, including John Lewis.
Suzy realised that her success in business allowed her the privilege of being a full time stay at home mum, and was all too aware of the very many others mums who would love to do the same but their finances simply don’t allow them to.
That’s when Suzy decided to begin a new mission. A mission that was about empowering and educating mothers with the tools they need to start their own business, or level up their existing business to help them achieve the lifestyle they and their families desire and deserve.
In June 2018 Mothers of Enterprise was launched. Mothers of Enterprise was created to educate, inspire and encourage mothers all over the world through online courses, articles and our online community.

The desire to help mothers build their confidence, knowledge, expertise and develop their
business for ultimate success, all whilst raising a family.
Only a few months in, and the Mothers of Enterprise Society (a free community run by Suzy and her team) is already a thriving information and inspirational hub for mothers in business, and those wanting to start. Mothers of Enterprise also made it to the finals for the Women in Business ‘Start up of the Year’ award, and Suzy is a finalist for the Heropreneur’s ‘Military Partner of the Year’ award. If you’d like to get involved or know more about either of Suzy’s businesses, head over to either of Suzy’s websites or social media pages.
