THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL PASSION PRESENTED BY AVANT CHAMBER BALLET The Little Match Girl Passion is a collaboration between Avant Chamber Ballet and Verdigris Ensemble with music by David Lang. Together on stage, the dancers of Avant Chamber Ballet and the singers of Verdigris Ensemble bring to life Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning setting of the famous Hans Christian Andersen story in modern, new way. With choreography by Katie Cooper and conducting by Sam Brukhman, the performance will use the human voice and dance in innovative ways to create a compelling and relevant audience experience about poverty, faith, and hope. DALLAS REPERTOIRE BALLET Dallas Repertoire Ballet presents their annual production of the beloved family classic, The Nutcracker, with a cast of over 130 talented dancers, featuring students from the Allen-based Academy of Dance Arts. For a second consecutive year, Dallas Repertoire Ballet is offering a special “sensory-friendly performance” at the 2PM show on Saturday, December 8. This performance is specifically designed for children with sensory processing disorders like autism, Asperger syndrome and Down syndrome and other special needs. They understand that dance and theater performances aren’t always accessible to children with special needs and want to five families who might not normally be able to attend a production of The Nutcracker the chance to do so this holiday season.
