Latimer Makes the most of Tulsa Time The Hollywoodstinseltown Open Futurity took the spotlight at The


Tulsa Reining Classic, held at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Big stops, fast spins, and flashy horses were showcased in the open futurity where 116 entries battled for championship honors.


Duane Latimer turned in a crowd-pleasing run to score a 222.5 aboard Oh Starry Nite for owner XCS Ranch to claim the Level 4 Open Futurity. Oh Starry Nite is 2015 mare by Gunners Special Nite and out of Chic Olena Starbuck and earned $15,116 for her efforts in the futurity. “It’s a good start [to the futurity season]. The destination is the fall


at the NRHA Futurity, but she was excellent,” Latimer said. “I was very happy with her.”


Andrea Fappani rode Money Carlo (A Sparkling Vintage x Chex Drive) for owner C. Ross Conner to reserve with a score of 222, worth $9,201.


In the Level 3, Ruben Vandorp took Spooks Gotta Crush to a score of 220.5, worth $5,564. The 2015 stallion is by Spooks Gotta Whiz out of Megas Sugar Baby. Mathieu Buton rode Smart As Hail (Smart Spook x Hailstorm Jaci) to the Level 3 reserve, worth $3,387 for owner Addie Shelton.


In the Level 2, Justin Mathison rode Gunshine On Line for owner Mary Jansma to the championship from a score of 219.5, worth $2,379. Joe Schmidt and Codalicious won the Level 1, as well as the Level 2 re- serve title for owner Barn 66 LLC for earnings of $2,307. The duo turned in a score of 218 to win the titles. Todd Crawford rode Whizkeybenthell- bound (Whizkey N Diamonds x Desire A Chic) to a score of 217.5 for the Level 1 reserve for owner MC Performance Horses and $523. The Turnabout Farm Non Pro Futurity had two competitors topping


the day. Madison Steed nearly swept the Futurity taking home the cham- pionships in the Level 4, Level 3 and Level 2 from a score of 220. Steed rode Into The Nite, a 3-year-old stallion by Gunners Special Nite out of Chexy Dun It, that’s she’s had since he was a yearling. “I don’t think it’s hit yet. He obviously was super good for me and just wanted to be my buddy in the arena and I couldn’t have asked for anymore from him,” Steed said. Michael Bulliard rode Ha Trashy Tune (Gunnatrashya x HA Chic A


Tune) to the Level 1 and Prime Time championships. In the Level 1, the duo marked a score of 218.5 for the win, while in the Prime Time they scored a 221.5.

top honors. On Finals night, Abby Lengel rode ARC Gunna Mark Ya to claim the Level 4 and Level 3 Open Derby titles with a score of 226 - the highest marked score of the show. Lengel picked up a total of $11,576. “She turned the best she ever has, didn’t have any penalties and


she stopped really, really good,” Lengel said. “It’s hard to find a place to complain. She was with me the whole time. “


Debbie Brown rode Spooks Lil Princess to the Level 2 and Level


1 with a score of 221 for owner Teresa Grier. The duo picked up $2,483 for their efforts in Tulsa. Jason Vanlandingham and Gunna Spark (Gunnatrashya x Roylenas Spark) scored a 221.5 to win the Novice Horse Open Derby Level 4 championship, worth $3,551 for owner Rosanne Sternberg. Cade McCutcheon took home the championship in the SmartPak Non Pro Level 4 Derby when he claimed the win aboard Me And Ju- lio (Colonels Nite Special x Darlins Not Painted) with a score of 220. The 2014 gelding turned in a big performance for McCutcheon, which he says is a confidence booster for their future. McCutcheon and Me And Julio earned $4,967 for their efforts in Tulsa. Gina Schumacher rode Slideomatic Spook (Spooks Gotta Whiz x Shiney Diamond Lady) owned by XCS Ranch to a score of 219 for the Level 4 Reserve. It was an epic day for Anne-Marie Burnes when she shared the championship in the Level 3 Derby with Bailey Kolson, plus shared the win with herself on two different horses in the Level 2 and Level 1. Burns also took home the title in the Novice Horse Non Pro Derby. Aboard REF Sturgis (Custom Harley x Chics Time To Rein) Burns
