20 A NEW GAS-POWERED PLANT FOR SAUDI


ARABIA - SEC’S NEW WAAD AL-SHAMAL SITE Full commercial operations have begun at the US$1bn Waad Al-Shamal plant, which partially depends on solar power to generate electricity, reports the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). This reflects some of its key efforts to support economic and development projects and industrial areas throughout the kingdom. SEC CEO Ziad bin Mohammed Al-Shiha says the new plant reflects the company’s comprehensive strategy for advanced electricity projects.
