Advertising Feature Leading the Line

To say that the practice of line marking pitches has undergone major changes over the past ten years is one of the biggest understatements in groundsmanship conversation. The changes are in fact revolutionary and Rigby Taylor has been the leader in introducing advanced science and technology to what was once an overlooked and underinvested area of sports pitch management.

Never before has there been a more intensive programme of research and

development with one overriding aim... to produce the perfect line-marking partnership of paint, machine and performance.

The Impact system requires NO added water and just by connecting the paint container to the spray machine delivery system it is ready to use. At a stroke, the introduction of ready to use Impact paint eliminated the age-old practice of measuring out, mixing in a bucket, stirring and slopping paint and the continual down-time caused by stopping for multiple tank refills.

The Impact formula created the ability,

for the first time, to over-mark a standard football pitch with just over 1.1 litre of paint using the iGO spray marking machine, applied using specially engineered nozzles. Such application consistently delivers the right quantity and quality of line, time after time. Such innovation was rewarded with Impact XP being selected as the line marking paint for the 2018 FIFA World Cup final.

Innovation is key at Rigby Taylor and they work tirelessly to keep ahead of the game by constant product development epitomized by the recent introduction of Impact Pure, an environmentally responsible Impact paint version, which contains all natural ingredients.

A further advance has been the launch of Impact Green-Out, a green paint that covers existing pitch lines and stencilled logos and blends in with the natural turf surface colouring.

But innovation does not stop at paint formulation or nozzle technology.

In 2016, Rigby Taylor identified the opportunities for GPS robotic line marking technology and for past two years has co-developed this technology through extensive UK trials. This will culminate with the launch at the 2018 SALTEX exhibition, ‘The TinyLineMarker’.

The TinyLinemarker is the world’s fastest autonomous GPS robotic line marking machine

dedicated to initial and over-marking of sports pitches, applying the Impact paint formulation through Rigby Taylors unique, specialist spray nozzles.

The robot features a highly sophisticated built-in GPS-RTK receiver and antenna that connects with satellites circling the earth and mobile network connections.

Simplicity and speed are the key to success. Pitch dimensions can be input using the App and

multiple pitches re-positioned to best fit the site using Google Maps. Inputs can then be stored so you never lose your lines. Initial marking a standard size football pitch takes less than 20

minutes, including all the perimeter lines, penalty boxes, the ‘D’, centre circle, corner angles and even the penalty spot... with one click on the tablet.

In addition, the following sporting surfaces can be marked out; rugby (union and league),

and American football; all undertaken, once the machine is placed in position, without the groundsman having further physical contact with the machine.
