BIRD STREETS John Brodeur and Jason Falkner There is a mature melancholy and brightness to be found of intelligent storytelling within the songwriting and voice of John Brodeur. There’s a Don McLean majesty found in his voice. Bird Streets sets off and winds through numerous avenues of what were once dead-end streets of personal conflicts. Yet, there is wisdom to be discovered with the lyrics and the beauty of the well-produced music and guitar playing from Falkner and Brodeur. Take a musical journey and think about their expressions found onBird Streets. Available now.
DON’T PANIC Lauren Sanderson There is a wild energy to Lauren Sanderson’s songwriting. Her latest EP release is full of the blast of being overwhelmed by too much communication and striking back with a rap and reggae rebuttal. “Shut Em Up” kicks off her blast of angst, anger and energy. It’s a profanity-laced glide with one love song “Electric” that soars... it all works out fine musically on the five-song set. One more lyrical and slow jam filled with emotional intensity, “Better Anyways” closesDon’t Panic contemplatively from Sanderson. Available now.
SWEETENER Ariana Grande America’s pint-sized princess of pop adds a little sweet and low to her latest set of songs onSweetener. Grande begins with “Raindrops (An Angel Cried)” which is stunning. However at only 37 seconds-long it could have been developed into a more beautiful song. From there on out it’s nothing but cotton candy. The title track adds its own sexy pull of saltwater taffy while “No Tears Left to Cry” is an anthem of positivity after being wiped out by a bad memory. Available now.
