multimodal shipment or service, we want to hear about something exceptional.

SPECIALIST CATEGORIES: Cool Award sponsored by American Airlines Cargo

This category is for specialist refrigerated freight services ranging

from small high-value pharma products through to a large reefer container, by any mode of transport. Entries should demonstrate good practice and an important contribution to the advancement of the ‘Cool’ Chain.

A company may enter a maximum of three categories in any one competition year, one entry per category. Additionally, any number of individuals employed by BIFA Members may enter the Young Freight Forwarder Award. Once again BIFA is grateful for the support of the sponsors. You still have another month to plan, write and perfect your entry with the deadline for entries not until Monday 8 October 2018. To ensure that your entry gets noticed, follow these simple guidelines:

1. Choose your category/ies – Visit the BIFA Awards website at bifa.org/awards read the category descriptions and download the Entry Form.

2. Speak to colleagues and your customer/s to get their input and permission.

3. Give yourself time, without interruptions, to write your first draft.

4. Ensure your submission follows the stated guidelines (Categories: introduction, 300 words; detail of project or service, 600 words; conclusion, 100 words. YFF: YFF article, 750 words; Manager’s reference, 250 words).

5. Outline the issue, explain your approach and solution, describe the outcome and results.

6. Save your submission and sleep on it for a couple of days before re-reading and refining the grammar and wording.

7. Proof read – enlist the fresh-eyes of colleagues. Does it make sense to someone unfamiliar with the project?

8. Make final tweaks. 9. Deliver to BIFA before the deadline – 5pm, Monday 8 October 2018

Celebrating success

The finalists in each category will attend the BIFA Freight Service Awards luncheon ceremony in Central London on Thursday 17 January 2019, hosted by double Olympic Gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes, where they will be presented with a certificate marking their achievement, before the overall winner is announced by the category sponsor.

Finalists and winners will benefit from high

profile media coverage in the trade press following the event.
