Chargifi ensures fans’ phones go the final furlong at Royal Ascot 2018

Selected hospitality box members had access to free wireless charging for the first time at this year’s Royal Ascot

Selected racegoers in a hospitality box at this year’s Royal Ascot were able to take advantage of free wireless charging facilities. For the first time, Ascot Racecourse installed wireless phone charging using Chargifi. This news extends Chargifi deployments

into leading sports venues around the world including Twickenham Stadium and the Mercedes-Benz stadium in the US, home to the Atlanta Falcons. Each point will fully charge a phone three times faster than traditional cable methods - so that customers do not miss out on sharing or capturing photos or videos of key moments of the day. “Ascot Racecourse is a great example of

a sporting venue embracing wireless power technology to give today’s customer what they want”, said Dan Bladen, co-founder and CEO, Chargifi. “Access to power is

fundamental to the way people live their lives, especially at an event like Royal Ascot where customers are regularly on their phones. Chargifi is doing for power what Wi-Fi did for connectivity: cutting the final cord, removing the final barrier to true mobility and helping people get power when and where they need it.” Commenting on the installation, George

Vaughan, Head of Technology at Ascot, said, “The need to be forward thinking is a key element of being able to provide customers with the best possible experience. From the build-up with friends and capturing key moments of the day, through to social media and using the Ascot app, peoples’ phones play a fundamental role in making a day at the races a special event. Wireless charging is set to become the preferred method of charging over the next few years and

introducing this as an option in our boxes is a clear demonstration of our desire to future-proof the venue for the benefit of our visitors.” Beyond the customer benefits of the installation, the Chargifi solution will provide data and insight to Ascot Racecourse based on audience behaviour that could inform future business decisions, turning wireless power into a service that adds real value for businesses. Bladen continued: “A day at the races

is a special day out and people want to be able to share the experience via their phones without needing to worry about when their battery will run out. Removing battery anxiety not only improves the racegoer experience but enables Ascot to better understand the digital habits of its customers onsite.”
