of a physical security system that is really crucial at a modern stadium or arena. The major benefit of network video over its analogue counterpart is that footage can be viewed in real-time, which is essential to allow security teams to track and halt suspicious behaviour and respond to incidents as they occur. This network connectivity also allows a physical security system to be closely integrated with other systems such as access control, smoke & fire alarms, and emergency buttons to enable quick verification and response. The simple truth is that analogue CCTV technology isn’t able to provide the security benefits required for stadiums and arenas. No threats can be deterred by physical
security technology that can only provide a historical record of an incident. Furthermore, a threat cannot be detected if a
security system is unable to operate in
real-time. Finally, no threat can be delayed unless counter-measures can be initiated in a timely manner, something that would be impossible without real-time insights.
Security beyond a match or event
Every event offers a new challenge. Ensuring the safety of those attending an event is of course the top priority. However, beyond match day, or when an event is not
taking place, the use of physical security technology at stadiums and arenas still plays a vital role in the safety of the public. Proactive intelligence, rather than reactive
surveillance, is the overwhelming benefit IP technology provides. Stadiums and venues across the world are facing huge challenges, from ensuring the safety of attendees, to proving the return on investment of an installation beyond event day. Of course, modern IP technology alone is not the answer, and cannot halt or prevent an attack without the correct security processes in place. Without it, however, the task is a significantly more difficult one.
