Tom Honeyman-Brown grew up on the very farm where he now lives and works, continuing the many years of hard work put in by his family, to create a fully diversified modern agriculture and tourism business.

“We’ve farmed at Tapnell for more than 40 years, with a mixture of dairy and arable. Since our cows have gone, we’ve converted most of our old dairy buildings into what is now called Tapnell Farm Park – one of the newest tourist attractions on the Island for over a decade.

“We specialise in leisure, tourism, agriculture and renewable energy.

Tom’s favourite places to visit on the Island include The Garlic Farm, for its great food and products in a lovely setting, The Hut, for its exceptional seafood and atmosphere in one of the best settings in the country and Blackgang Chine, which he feels is great for the kids to burn off some energy, with its rollercoasters, waterslides and good old-fashioned fun.

His favourite Island spot is Totland Beach, which he says is always quiet, is great for the kids to go shallow paddling and has truly epic sunsets.

“It’s all about the lifestyle here, so it means that everyone has a really interesting story,” says Tom.

Pip Fairweather and Aly Willard have a joint passion for all that is Island living. Their company, Pip & Ali, was born in December 2017 because of a joint love of colourful, beach-style fashion and accessories with a tropical feel.

Aly’s love of big blue skies, open spaces and a childhood travelling to many exotic, wonderful spots started her passion for anything beachy, tropical and bright. Following university in Oxford, she worked in marketing in the West End, before moving with her husband to the Island to start a family.

Pip travelled around Asia and spent time in the BVI. She had an interiors business called Fair & Weathered some years back, where she would travel to source distressed furniture and home and garden accessories. She also followed in her sculptor father’s footsteps, exhibiting ceramics at Chelsea Flower Show, House and Garden and Country Living fayres. After being brought up on the west coast of Scotland, then Norfolk, then later living in London, Pip felt the pull of open countryside and space.

The pair both now live in the West Wight and enjoy the pace, the sea water quality, the nature, quality of life and amazing friends. “Plus you can get decent coffee her now too!” They said.

Both Pip and Aly have two young children, so they love visiting Tapnell Farm Park. For cocktails by the sea and delicious food where it feels like they are on holiday, they love The Hut at Colwell Bay. Their favourite spot is a toss up between Compton Beach and Totland Bay. “The often turquoise water and white beaches make them both very special places,” they said. “There is still so much discover, even after 12 years of living on the Island.”

George Adams of beachside seafood restaurant, The Hut, has always considered the Isle of Wight to be his home.

Despite spending his upbringing in Sussex, he now chooses the Island’s West Wight to reside with his wife and two children. They enjoy its diversity, its accessibility and its stunning location so close to the sea.

The Hut is a busy seasonal, seafood restaurant situated in Colwell Bay. “You can arrive at The Hut by boat, car or even helicopter! We are really lucky to be part of the West Wight community — and proud to employ up to 70 of the Island’s greatest talent,” said George.

“I love visiting Scratchells Bay, by The Needles, for afternoon sun — and Newtown Creek by boat for a lazy afternoon picnic and a paddleboard with my family. It’s stunning and incredibly tranquil.”

His favourite place to dine out is for a long lunch at The Hut with good friends, food and wine. He also enjoys visiting The Cow Co, near Yarmouth. George feels the Island is unique, because of the mediterranean style conditions he enjoys for almost half of the year.
