Volunteers Leafletswould be dropped throughout the village asking for volunteers to join the Speedwatch teamand the li�er pickers organised by CllrGordonDown. Accounts The 2017/18 accounts had now been formally approved andwould be submi�ed to the external audit process. Traveller issues Cllrs RichardWebb and GordonDown had a�ended ameeting hosted byMBC to discuss gypsy and traveller site issues. Annualmeeting This had been very successful, andwas a�ended by about 40 residents,who sawan interesting presentation byDandelion Time, a charity based inWest Farleigh.
East Farleigh
ChairmanOne nominationwas received for CllrGlyn Charlton and hewas duly elected chairman. Cllr Peter Beasleywas elected vice-chairman after one nomination. Rail timetable The clerk had contacted Paul Coleman atNetwork Rail about altering the timetable to avoid a two-train situation, but had had no reponse as yet. Light pollution Cllr Beasley had received a complaint about light pollution in Lower Road – a bright blinding LEDlight on a housewas on all night andwas said to be confusing the birds, causing an intrusion and preventing residents in awide area fromlooking at the night sky. It had been up for over a year. Itwas agreed towrite a polite le�er to the owners suggesting a PIR sensor, rather than a photocell. Gallants Lane Cllr Porter had reported numerous potholes inGallants Lane to KCC Highways, following complaints from residents, alongwith other faults he had found there.Ahorse rider had also complained to himabout nearmisseswith cars and some signagewas suggested. This would bemade an agenda itemat the next meeting. Horsewash Cllrs Beasley and Charlton reported on an issueswith a tree that had come, and anotherwhichwas in danger of coming down. The tenant had been informed that she should pay for remedying the situation, as stated in the lease. The path toward the bridge information boardwas causingwater to be directed on to the Horsewash andwas starting to erode it in the centre, scouring a channel. Cllr Charlton would ask Pearsons to sort this out. Antiques fair CllrHussein noted that advertising signs for the antiques fairs in the

It was agreed to buy another ba�ery and a kit for preparing a patient. CllrWilson suggested installing a defibrillator inDean Street to cover that end of the village. Garden competition Prize vouchers from Hadlowwere nowguaranteed. Cllr King was happy to judgewith some help – Cllr Dortonwould help if needed. Car park Therewas discussion about painting yellowlines at the entrance to the car park. Itwas agreed to accept the quote fromAR Cooke (£750), as neither KCC Highways norMBCwas prepared to quote Traffic calming Following debate about the options proposed by KCCHighways for the bridge and for traffic calming on Lower Road, itwas agreed to have a separate privatemeeting to look at everything in more detail.Highways had rejected the idea of amirror to helpwith sightlines at the bridge, as itwould reflect the sun Recreation areas Itwas agreed to buy six signs forbidding dogs on the recreation field and six other signs forbidding dogmess, with a total cost of £330. Access requestAresident had asked to gain access to his back garden via Brooks field for landscapingwork. Itwas agreed to arrange a site visit and then a round robinwould be completed tomake a decision on the request. Water overflowAfter discussionswith residents about a cascade ofwater froma Dickenson’s field into Busbridge Road, Cllr Andrewlooked at the area and advised that therewas amanhole cover in the field that carried treated sewage fromCoxheath, and thewater cascaded outwhen it rained. had sent a copy of theMBC event notification formto the council. Itwas agreed that the clerk should contact the LAAas the document did not reflect the number of visitors thatmight a�end if the LooseWomen TV programmewas at the event. Theremight also be additional vehicles and the councilwould like to see the risk assessment for the event. Commi�ees The council agreed to the commi�ees remaining as theywere and that the Fete sub commi�ee be renamed the Feteworking group. Pavilion kitchen Cllr Luckhurst advised that the kitchen fi�er had advised that he was unable to do thework for the refurbishment of the kitchen. The council agreed that Cllr Luckhurstwould go back to the second kitchen fi�er to see if hewas still available to carry out the contract. She would obtain a revised quote. Neighbourhood plan Informal feedback had been received fromMBC and apart fromone recommendation on designated green space, all of the recommendations had been added to the submission. The documentwas sent to Feria for amendment. Itwas agreed that once the amended document had been checked by the steering group the final submissionwould be agreed by round robin. SMART SouthMaidstoneAction for Roads and Transport hadmet inMay and concerns were raised about the lack of progresswith theA229, as no improvementswere expected for the next two years, even thoughmoney had been set aside for the works. GDPR Following an amendment to the Data ProtectionAct, parish councilswere nowexempt fromthe need to appointed a data protection officer. The council agreed not to employ aDPOand the clerkwould monitor the situation. The clerk advised that policies and noticeswere being revised and in some cases,wri�en.Once ready, they would be brought to the council. Magazine Therewere concerns about the In and around Loosemagazine not being delivered to some residents untilMay 19, whichmeant some of the informationwas out of date.
