[EDITOR’S NOTE]
The long summer days are finally here – unless you’re in Australia; more on that in a minute – and we hope you’re making the most of them for your business and your family. Maybe your summer plans include some travel – and even if not, we’re going to visit quite a few places in this issue of WRE. Before we introduce the feature articles in this issue, let’s
go back to basics. Te unique backbone of Wire Rope Exchange is, of course, the product listings that our Premium Members
post on the Exchange, which you can find on our website and in the Catalog section of this magazine. Te Exchange has been very busy this year, with several hundred new items posted since the beginning of 2018. We have also been working with our Members to review and update their previously listed items to make sure that what you find there is up-to-date and accurate. If you haven’t checked out the Catalog in a while, be sure to take a look around. And
if you have products you’d like to sell, please consider listing them on the Exchange! Now, about Australia. In our Cover Feature you’ll meet several members of the Tacker
family, and learn about their business, Ranger Lifting. Tere are some unique aspects involved in operating a lifting and rigging business in Australia, and you’ll read a bit about those. But of course, the things it takes to make a family business successful are much the same everywhere. From there, it’s on to Winona, MN. We were in Winona last year to participate in the 100th Anniversary celebration at Peerless Chain, (and see Rigger’s Corner), and here we share the story of Winona-based OZ Lifting and learn about their remarkable CompOZite Davit Crane. We’ll also visit Southwest Airline’s new “Wings” flight training facility at Dallas Love
Field. Architectural cable railing for this sleek project was supplied by Texas-based Trinity Sling and they’ll share more about that and the wide variety of services they provide. Finally, check out our Update on page 76 for a review of the most recent AWRF
General Meeting in Scottsdale, AZ. Te program featured a strong slate of speakers along with great opportunities to network and socialize. It’s worth mentioning that we’ve spoken to leaders from each of the businesses we’ve written about in this issue during at least one industry exhibition or conference. Please let us know if you’d like for us to write about your business in an upcoming issue.
We look forward to hearing from you, and we hope to see you at an upcoming industry event! Best Regards,
