RPS NEWS

ROYAL PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY SCOTLAND ROUND-UP

By Alex MacKinnon, Royal Pharmaceutical Society Director for Scotland

BRINGING RPS CLOSER TO YOU – SIX MONTHS ON

During our Seminar in 2017, we launched our new approach to local engagement and events – RPS Local. Six months on, we are delighted to share with you the initial impact this new model has delivered.

Following its launch in October 2017, RPS Local delivered eight events during the remainder of the year, with an average delegate attendance of 22. Already in 2018, a total of 18 events have been delivered across the country, seeing an average of 31 delegates per meeting. Based on the feedback we have received so far, all events have been highly rated by all attendees.

A further thirteen events in 2018 are already planned and more events will be added over the coming months, giving members an increased opportunity to engage with the topics on offer and of course network with

their peers.

Make sure you know who your RPS Local Coordinator is and look out for events in your area. All events are added to our events system on the RPS website, but we also email members directly with information about upcoming events as well as share information via social media. We would like to remind you that up to date contact details will allow us to stay in touch regarding all local event activities.

We would also like to encourage you to engage with the topics of all cur- rently announced events and suggest new topics and areas of focus. RPS Lo- cal events in Scotland will increasingly be linked to the RPS Foundation and Faculty programmes to support you with your professional development, recognition and revalidation.

RPS IN SCOTLAND WANTS TO HEAR YOUR EXPERIENCE OF

WORKFORCE PRESSURES The RPS in Scotland has been invited to give evidence to Scottish Labour’s Workforce Commission in the summer. As always, the Society is keen on ensuring that its evidence is fully informed by the experiences of its members wherever they are practising. We would therefore like to hear about your views and experiences in the workplace.

IN PARTICULAR WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE ABOUT:

• Your experiences of workforce pressures in your day-to-day practice and how this has affected you and your team’s ability to deliver pharmaceutical care services.

• What you would want to change to reduce workplace pressure and allow you to deliver more patient care.

• Your experiences and evidence of where your services has helped reduce workforce pressures elsewhere, eg, reduced GP appointments, A&E attendance or reduced the need for social care package.

TO SHARE YOUR VIEWS AND EXPERIENCES PLEASE CONTACT, HEAD OF PRACTICE & POLICY, AILEEN BRYSON, ON AILEEN. BRYSON@RPHARMS.COM OR 0131 524 2008.

NEW APP LAUNCHED FOR PHARMACY REVALIDATION

We recently launched our new app, RPS MyCPD, enabling members and registered users to record, track and export their CPD activities in order to support them in meeting the General Pharmaceutical Council’s (GPhC) revalidation requirements.

RPS members can access the app’s content for free by using their membership number and surname, while subscribers to the Pharmaceutical Journal (PJ) and/ or Clinical Pharmacist (CP) can access the app by entering their email address and password. The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

GPhC registrants, who are not members of the RPS, can either join the RPS, which will also allow access to other tools and support that the Society offers for revalidation, or subscribe to PJ and/or CP. Non-members can try a free trial for seven days at www.rpharms.com/myCPD after which point it carries a monthly £10 fee.
