NewcouncillorsMr J Bri�, fromSandway, offered to join the council to represent the southward.He gave a brief outline of his career and interests and the chairman thanked himand invited himto join the council by co-option at theAprilmeeting. Suzanne Knowles andAndy Ratcliffe signed the declaration of acceptance of office and formally joined the council as members for the southward. Road safetyA resident voiced concerns about the road safety issues at the FavershamRoad junction and suggested the hedge southwest of the junction be cut back to enhance the sight lines for traffic joining theA20. Councillors updated him on the proposed speed reduction initiatives and improvements to the junction. Cllr Scrivens later reported that extra signage was to be included in the junction improvements,while CllrHuggens raised safety concernswith large lorries reversing on to theA20 fromFavershamRoad. Warden report The communitywarden said no recent antisocial behaviour had been reported.He said policewere aware of

The wardenwas to circulate the details and raise awareness at the hub club and over 60s groups.An increase in numbers of the rural policing teamwould provide a pro- active approach to issues in the parish. Residents’ queries One parishioner reported damage to the gents’WC cubicle door. The clerkwould arrange repairs. Another asked if the street furniturewould be repainted and the railings removed from outside the Post Office.He also thanked LPC for the details of the improvement works and reported a faulty lamp in the car park at Foord Road.A repair requestwould be organised once the owner is established. Two further faulty streetlampswere also reported.Anothermember of the public reported the removal of discarded sledges fromthe Cross area and the intention to start pruning trees at the picnic site, aswell as thanking the council for safeguarding the allotments for future generations. SpeedwatchA parishioner fromPla�s Heath confirmed therewere six new members for the Speedwatch teamand reported on a newsle�er asking residents to consider several initiativeswhichwould improve the environment and helpmake the roads safer. Borough report Cllrs T and J Sams thanked the communitywarden for hiswork ensuring supplieswere delivered to vulnerable residents during thewater crisis. They said the petition concerning access to the proposed development north of Tanyard Farmwas gaining support, and that the Pla�s Heath road improvement reportwas complete. Tree work The clerk and Cllr Osborne were to seek quotes for the removal of two trees behind the community centre. Allotment lease The chairman and his counterpart at the HamLaneAllotment Association signed the 25-year lease for the allotments. Cllr Cocke�was to start the procedure relating to the ownership of the access road to the site.Meetingswere to be organisedwith interested partieswishing to use the top site for community use, and a decision on the future use of the site would bemade followingmore in-depth research. Neighbourhood plan Cllr Osborne said


funding for a transportation studywas being sought fromMBC.Master planning for land east of the village had been completed,while updated versions of the masterplan for land north of the railway andwest of HamLanewere awaited, and the land south of the railway is awork in progress. Primary and nursery education provisionwas being discussedwith KCC and the nursery school,while correspondencewas ongoingwith Network Rail. WilliamPi� FieldA statement concerning the future of theWilliamPi� Field had been released. It had been suggested that the football pitches and other recreational facilities be relocated after taking the views of LenhamWanderers FC into consideration.

Council reports Cllr Shellina Prendergast reported thatMBC had agreed a 3% increase to their budget. Itwas noted that £20,000 had been included for Environmental Enforcement, but she felt thiswas not enough to stop the blight of fly-tipping and li�er. KCC had also agreed an increase to their budget, of 4.99%. Cllr Prendergast said the Chegworth Road reviewwas being undertaken and shewas workingwithMP HelenWhateley to get Highways England to take responsibility for the rubbish and flytipping there and on theA20. Oak treeMBCwould not be seeking a Tree Protection Order on an oak tree near Pye Corner unless any immediate harmcould be demonstrated. Signage Thewording for the bend sign on LenhamRoadwas to be discussed at the nextmeeting.Additional correspondence was still requiredwith Kent Highways in relation to the chevron signage, and Cllr Lingwoodwas to followthis up. Socialmedia Itwas agreed to set up a Facebook page for a six-month trial. The clerk and Cllr Robinsonwere to act as administrators and itwas agreed to set the profile for outward transmissions only. Roads Potholes on Chegworth Road and Ulcombe Hillwere to be reported and it was noted that individuals should be encouraged to report potholes online. Cllr Kenward noted that Stickfast Lanewas flooded. She had contacted KCC andwas to seek ameetingwith Highways.
