[EDITOR’S NOTE]

Ready for spring? We suspect so – it’s still snowing where many of you are as we write this! Milder weather makes a lot of jobs a lot easier, but sometimes

what you really need to get a project moving is just the right kind of help. Our cover feature in this issue – driven by the massive Ichthys LNG Project – is about one of those projects. Ichthys is a gas and condensate field in the Browse Basin located off the northwestern coast of Australia. At its heart is a central processing facility situated on the world’s largest

semi-submersible platform, the Ichthys Explorer. Among its unique demands, the Ichthys Explorer required development and delivery of a set of riser protection nets to prevent incursion of any vessel with the structure. And that’s where a series of companies came into play, starting with Tension Technologies International (TTI) who designed the nets. TTI awarded a contract to assemble and package three large nets (the largest is 109 meters long) to Houston-based SWOS. TTI and SWOS are highly experienced pioneers in synthetic rope. Nonetheless, the

unique requirements of one of the nets led SWOS to rely on Whitehill Manufacturing to provide expertise working with a particular type of hybrid polyester fiber. And then of course they had to package the finished product for shipment. SWOS turned to Myers Design and Manufacturing, also of Houston, to tackle that step. Of course, in addition to industry partners, you also rely on getting the right kind of

help every day from the employees on your team. With that in mind, we are very pleased to introduce business expert, strategist and advisor Howard Lewinter in this issue. In his article, he shares six things to focus on to make sure you retain and reward the help you have from your people. We enjoyed a very engaging conversation with Howard – he’s genuinely fascinated with

how businesses work and eager to help them work better – and we think you’ll appreciate his straightforward counsel. You can learn more at www.talkbusinesswithhoward.com Have a comment about something you’ve read in this issue? We are always interested in

your feedback so please let us know. And if you’re working on something you’d like to share, we’ll be glad to write about it so please call or email when you’re ready. Also, be sure to check out the Catalog – the Exchange has been very busy this year and

there are lots of new listings to check out in this issue and on our website. Our Listing Members look forward to serving you!
