STARDUST

CONTEMPORARY BALLET’S

COMPLEXIONS

BACH AND A LITTLE “GUTTER GLITTER” by lisa lipsey

BOWIE, A SIDE OF

A toast to Bowie and a toast to dance: Complexions Contemporary Ballet is back with a production full of eye and ear candy. StarDust, a dance tribute and their latest endeavor, features David Bowie’s most beloved hits with glam rock-inspired costumes designed by Christine Darch. Iconic and beloved, David Bowie was a pioneer of “glam rock” according to music historians Schinder and Schwartz, who creditedBowieand

Marc Bolan with creating the genre. Human League founder Martyn Ware remarked, “He had lived his life as though he were an art installation.” Sadly, the world lost Bowie two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his last albumBlackstar, on January 10, 2016. He died from liver cancer in his New York City apartment, where he had also been working on his Off-Broadway musical Lazarus.
