At Wilbur Yachts, they are working on three Wilbur 34s in the main shop, mostly annual maintanence with some minors repairs, and then they are installing an electric motor in a 26-foot Navy launch, which you can just see the transom of.
At Oceanville Boat in Stonington they
are nearing completion on a Wayne Beal 46, which is being fi nished out as a lobster boat for a fi sherman from Stonington. She is powered with a 900-hp Scania and below has a full interior. Her interior includes a V berth forward, a hydraulic and electrical room to starboard and a galley with a toolbox to port. The engine room is insulated in Soun- down. They are now installing the windows, putting nonskid down on the deck and then painting. She is scheduled to go over early this spring. Next they have a number of repair jobs
to do. They also have a vacancy from July to February if someone is interested in fi n- ishing off a hull.
Eaton's Boat Shop on Deer Isle is fi n-
ishing off a 43 Morgan Bay as a lobster boat for a local fi sherman. She will be powered with a 750 hp John Deere and for accom- modations she will have two berths on the starboard side with a shelf running the length of the port side. She will also have a utility and hydraulic room. Below the platform she has a 500 gallon fuel tank and a 1,500 pound live well. There is no wood in this boat. Her stringers are of Nydacore and the under platform framing is all composite. She will sport a sliding winter back. Nautilus will be
making her hauling patch. This should be the fi rst Morgan Bay 43 to hit the water, which should occur later this spring.
At Wilbur Yachts the main shop is full with another project up in the back shop. In the main shop are several Wilbur 34s.
One of the 34 was for sale, but is currently under contract. She will likely receive a bottom job and have work done on her head. Another of the 34s will have bottom work done as well as work on her holding tank and then her annual maintenance which will include a lot of varnish. The next 34 is having her windshield wipers replaced which they thought was an easy job until they found that the new wipers did not fi t the old wiper motors. She is also having work done on her head, a bus heater added and varnish renewed. An MDI is in for electrical work and regular maintenance, which will include varnish work. In between the Wilbur 34s, is a 26 foot
Navy launch, which they are putting an electric drive in. This means adding eight 8D batteries, installed the motor and then she will be certifi ed to carry 12 passengers. Up back is a Lowell 43 is in for a major
refi t to her interior and replace the wet core in her hull and superstructure.
