LIVE 24-SEVEN - MUSIC

MUS IC & F I LM WITH ED JAMES

Heart Breakfast

April and Spring has arrived...

After what seemed like the longest January ever, it seems like we’ve blinked and April is upon us! Gemma & I have been playing some fantastic new music on Heart Breakfast recently. I’ve been at Heart a very long time and the playlist is the best it’s ever been! The music on the Vodafone Big Top 40 right now is just perfect for warmer days and lighter nights.

One of my favourite tracks right now is Rita Ora and Liam Payne - For You. Our listeners absolutely love it too. As well as being a catchy pop song, the production values are some of the best I’ve heard on a record for ages. Do me a favour, when it next comes on the radio turn it up and listen to it as loud as you can.. it sounds massive! Both Rita and Liam are at the top of their game at the moment and we can’t get enough of the track, it really is an anthem! The only downside is that Gemma joins in when it comes on.. so I’ve got to turn it up loud too to drown her out. Ed x

Thanks Ed! And a massive shout out to April... Finally it’s a little lighter at night and we’re not bracing ourselves to pull back the curtains and seeing Siberia in the back garden. I LOVE spring, and nothing makes you feel better than listening to some bangin’ summer type beats in the sunshine!

Rita Ora and Liam Payne - For You

I am still absolutely loving Jess Glynn, Rudimental & Macklemore - These Days at the moment. Everything about this track is perfection for me; listening to Macklemore’s vocals is a bit like having warm honey poured all over you (just imagining…) Teaming up with his mate; US producer Ryan Lewis, he’s had some awesome tracks: ‘Thrift shop’ was awesome ‘Can’t hold us’ is still one of my faves, throw in Jess Glynn, who is still one of the best liver performers I’ve seen, add kings of the colabs; Rudimental, and boom, you’ve hit gold!!

I love the lyrics in this song. It speaks to you if you’re in a relationship that you’ve had to work at but you made it in the end; and I also think you can relate if you and your ex didn’t quite make it. It’s a thing of beauty and I love playing it as often as we can for you on Heart Breakfast.

Enjoy the springtime, crack the Pimms out and have some fun! Gemma x
