BIFA supports freight forwarding skills breakfast near Heathrow

BIFA recently supported an apprenticeship workshop at the Logistics Skills Alliance (LSA), West Thames College, near Heathrow, to discuss a joined-up approach on raising awareness of freight forwarding apprenticeships for the next-generation workforce. The LSA is one of only three providers

nationally to have supported the employer group in the development and promotion of the International Freight Forwarding Specialist Apprenticeship. James Billingham, consultant, LSA, hosted the

event and he provided freight forwarders with his top three tips for employers to get the best return on their apprenticeship investment. Carl Hobbis, training development manager,

BIFA, was the guest keynote speaker. He emphasised the need for freight forwarding as a sector of choice to attract, recruit and retain a next-generation workforce. BIFA showcased some elements from its new toolkit to support Members in recruiting apprenticeships and when attending careers days. CH Robinson, Geodis, Brinks Global, Allport

Cargo, Panalpina, Toll Group, LF Logistics, Ligentia, OIA Global, DHL and Metro Shipping were some of those in attendance and contributed to a lively debate on their apprenticeship priorities and challenges.
