All About You All about You B
ased in Woodbridge, Suffolk, Joanne bought Pantmanr Just-So (Justin)
when he was 12 years old, back in November 2013. He came from Salisbury, where he was based with Katie Roberts, who was selling him on behalf of Gemma Pointer. “The following February we sadly lost my mother, Gill Bloss. She was a huge encouragement to Tyra and loved to see her ride, and fortunatley she did get to see her ride on a number of occasions,” Joanne began. “Tyra has enjoyed four seasons with Justin. She had a lead rein pony before Justin but when she tried to do classes off the lead rein he got a bit cheeky, and we realised he just wasn’t suitable for the first riddens. Then I happened to come across Justin for sale and they have had the most amazing four years together since. Just recently we made the difficult decision to sell him, but he’s gone to a great home.
“Justin has been an absolute poppet from the day we got him. Tyra didn’t even know how
to canter when she went to try him out, but the owner told her to ‘just ask him to canter, he will do it for you’ and he did. There was Tyra bobbing around in the saddle, while Justin looked after her beautifully as he carried on cantering around. He’s so genuine.
“While he’s lovely and cuddly with people, Justin is definitely the boss in the field – he certainly bossed my Connemara around during his time with us. Before he was gelded aged eight, he had many babies – we believe around 30 in total – including the very successful Langworthy Swift Ghost, who qualified for Olympia in 2017, for the BSPS Heritage final.
“Tyra is a smart rider, but before she got Justin she wasn’t the most confident in the saddle. However, Justin changed that and instilled confidence and trust in her, turning her into the rider she is today. In 2016 I registered Justin as a veteran with the intention of trying to qualify for Olympia, only

year old daughter Tyra’s showing successes and her special relationship with the wonderful Pantmanr Just-So.
A thrilled Tyra during her lap of honour
to have my form returned, telling me it was a year too early – Justin was only 14 at that point, and I had got my dates mixed up. However, the following year I was finally able to register him and what a year it was. It was everything we could ever have dreamed of and more!
Performing their individual show at Olympia
“We started the 2017 season in April at an Area 16 show, where Tyra and Justin had two wins in first ridden classes – the Pretty Polly and the open. Royal Windsor then came around, which was only our third show of the season, and you have to canter in the veteran classes, which was something Tyra had never done before at shows. There were 36 in the class and as she went into the ring, I burst into tears and said to my friend ‘What have I done!’. However, as Tyra began her
individual show and started trotting, I knew she would be OK and that Justin would look after her.
“Unfortunately, during his show, Justin had a little cough and Tyra lost her reins for a moment, even though the rest of the show was lovely. Tyra was upset and had a meltdown, thinking she had blown it. If I am honest, I thought that it might have affected her placing, too. However, to calm Tyra down, I threatened not to allow her to go shopping if she didn’t pull herself together.
“They called the winners in reverse order and when they read out the first placing number I remember thinking to myself, ‘I am sure that’s Tyra’s number’. Tyra just sat there for a while, not realising she had won
