A GUIDE FOR BIDDING AND BUYING AT THE AUCTION Attending the Exhibition and Auction and bidding

IMPORTANT NOTICE

For guaranteed entry to the exhibition and auction you must pre-register with Graham Budd Auctions. To do this you must have first purchased the printed auction catalogue, which admits one person only. Inside the catalogue you will find a uniquely numbered bidding paddle. If you wish to attend the event email the auctioneer gb@grahambuddauctions.co.uk quoting your bidding number. You will receive a confirmation email. When coming to the stadium please remember to bring your catalogue, bidding paddle and confirmation email. You will also be required to present photographic ID at the Registration Desk.

If you are a successful bidder at the auction, all lots sold will be invoiced to the name and address in which the paddle was registered and may not be transferred to another name and address.

When you wish to bid please raise your paddle clearly to ensure you catch the eye of the auctioneer. If you are the winning bidder please keep your paddle raised until the auctioneer calls the number.

Purchases can be paid for and collected from the stadium on the day of the auction, further details are printed elsewhere in this guide.

Other methods of bidding if not attending the auction in person

If you are unable to attend the auction at the stadium you can still participate from anywhere in the world. There are three different methods: Absentee Bidding, Telephone Bidding and Live Internet Bidding.

Absentee Bidding

The auctioneer can execute bids on your behalf. The easiest way is by registering as a client at our website www.grahambuddauctions.co.uk/ create-an-account. You will then be able to leave and manage bids up until 9am on the morning of the auction. You would need to declare your maximum limit. The auctioneer will try and secure the lot for you as inexpensively as possible, subject to the competition you encounter from other bidders.

If you would prefer, you can simply email your bidding instructions to the auctioneer gb@grahambuddauctions.co.uk. Please be sure to provide your full contact details and check the bidding instructions carefully before submitting.

Telephone Bidding

It will be possible to arrange auction telephone bidding at this sale, subject always to the availability of lines and staffing. Email gb@grahambuddauctions.co.uk to register the lots you are interested in. During the auction we will call you from the saleroom shortly before your lot is coming under the hammer. You will be able to hear the auctioneer and our member of staff will bid on your behalf when instructed by you.

Live Internet Bidding This auction will have a live internet bidding facility with a video and audio feed that can be accessed globally. You will need to register for the auction at www.thesaleroom.com. Please note that an additional fee will apply for use of this service (see Buyer’s Premium and VAT below for full details). You will also be required to provide credit/debit card details during the registration process.

Buyer’s Premium and VAT

At auction the final selling bid is known as the ‘hammer price’. The auctioneer charges a buyer’s Premium of 17.5% of the hammer price when bidding is conducted in person in the room or by absentee and telephone bidding. The auctioneer charges a buyer’s Premium of 20.5% of the hammer price when a lot is bought using the Live Internet Bidding platform provided by thesaleroom.com.

Buyer’s premium is subject to VAT at the current rate of 20%.

Therefore the final invoice total for room, absentee and telephone bidders will be 21% above the hammer price inclusive of VAT, and 24.6% above the hammer price for thesaleroom.com bidders inclusive of VAT.

An example for a lot purchased at £100 would be as follows:

Room, absentee and telephone bidders £100 hammer price. £17.50 buyer’s premium. £3.50 VAT on buyer’s premium. TOTAL AMOUNT DUE: £121.00

Live internet bidders at thesaleroom.com £100 hammer price. £20.50 buyer’s premium. £4.10 VAT on buyer’s premium. TOTAL AMOUNT DUE: £124.60

VAT in respect of non-EU buyers If a non-EU (European Union) buyer instructs the purchase to be shipped outside the EU then the auctioneer can demonstrate proof of export and thereby be authorised to remove the VAT from the buyer’s invoice. If however a buyer is handling the export in person or through instructing a shipper independently the VAT will have to be paid and then reclaimed by the buyer or buyer’s shipper at the port of departure. Buyers are reminded that it is their responsibility to comply with UK export regulations and any local import requirements.

If VAT can be removed for a non-EU buyer as described above then an example of an invoice total for a lot purchased for £100 would be as follows:

Room, absentee and telephone bidders. £100 hammer price. £17.50 buyer’s premium TOTAL AMOUNT DUE: £117.50

Live internet bidders at thesaleroom.com £100 hammer price. £20.50 buyer’s premium TOTAL AMOUNT DUE: £120.50

Estimates

Every lot in the auction catalogue has a low and high estimate. Estimates are published as a guide only. The final hammer price of a lot may be higher or lower than the range of figures given and there are no predetermined starting bids. The published estimates are exclusive of buyer’s premium and VAT. For the avoidance of doubt for overseas bidders the auction is conducted in British Pounds Sterling.

Certificates of Authenticity Every lot purchased at the auction will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity specially created for the auction by Liverpool Football Club. The certificates are individually prepared bearing a specific lot number.

Payment and Collection for bidders attending the auction at Anfield. Successful room bidders can pay for and collect their purchases from the saleroom on the day of the auction. Payment can be made by Debit or Credit Card or by cash. We are unable to accept cheques or any form of electronic or online payments on sale day.

Room bidders are not obliged to collect their purchases on sale day but PLEASE NOTE that all uncollected lots will be transferred from the stadium to the auctioneer’s appointed storers and shippers Whittle International Movers Ltd (see collections and shipping logistics for full details).
