Allegion appoints new Architectural Consultant for UK, Scotland and Ireland

Safety and security solutions provider Allegion UK has appointed Andrew Shaw as ‘Architectural Consultant’ for its UK and Ireland businesses to build and strengthen relationships in specification.
Andrew joins Allegion UK following more than 20 years of experience in architectural sales in the construction industry.
Beginning his career as an Architectural Technician, Andrews worked on major projects such as The Albert Dock in Liverpool, before moving on to Marley Building Materials as a technical adviser. This role required him to provide technical support across the product range to both internal and external clients. Andrew’s subsequent successes facilitated

At Allegion, Andrew will consult with architects, clients, quantity surveyors, project managers and facilities management teams to provide ironmongery schedules ensuring that building standards are met and that products are selected to match the requirements for projects. By communicating with decision makers, Andrew can customise Allegion’s offering to ensure that the ironmongery lasts, is easy to use and fit for purpose.
Andrew will also be responsible for providing CPD seminars, which will offer Architects and Specifiers a consultancy-based service. He will play a key part in ensuring that their designs and aspirations are brought to full fruition.
The UK’s leading door manufacturer, Hormann has announced that it has acquired the majority of shares of the world’s leading suppliers of bollards, road blockers, lift carriers and tyre killers, Pilomat. The recent acquisition means that Hormann now owns 70 percent of the Italian manufacturer, and will now be available to purchase under the Hormann brand.
The new product range from Hormann will consist of reinforced bollards, road blockers for passages of up to six metres wide, lift carriers for passages of up to ten metres wide and tyre killers. The bollards are designed for perimeter control of private and public areas, such as pedestrian precincts, parking zones and company premises, as well as in high security places such as ministerial buildings, airports, and exhibition grounds. automatic, fixed and removable, and all come with a matching appearance. An optional Emergency Fast Operation control (EFO) which lifts the products within 1.5 seconds is available for emergency situations.

Eurocell opens up new vistas with StudioGlide
Eurocell, the UK’s leading manufacturer, distributor and recycler of PVC-U window, door, conservatory and roofline products - is extending its range of bi-fold doors with the launch of StudioGlide™, a breakthrough aluminium bi-fold system that promises minimal sightlines, maximum performance and unlimited flexibility.
Developed for both residential and commercial projects, StudioGlide will fit any aperture because its is scaleable to frame heights of up to 2.5m and widths of up to 6.5m. Individual sashes of 1.2m wide can be assembled in multiple configurations of up to seven sashes with the choice of inward or outward opening doors.
Comfort - and lower heating bills - are assured by high- specification energy efficient glass and a thermal break in the frame that reduces heat loss so that StudioGlide can achieve U-values as low as 1.6W/m2k for double glazing and 1.3W/m2k for triple glazing.

appearance, as StudioGlide comes with full PAS 24 accreditations and is glazed from the inside for increased security, using bespoke gaskets to get the best possible seal against the weather.
Frames are available in a range of classic colours, complemented by shoot bolt and door handles in a wide choice of colours and finishes, including colour matched handles and magnetic door holders.
Doors can open in or out using the same profiles and there is the option for external access on any configuration to make planning and installation simpler. A choice of a ‘fully weathered’ threshold for external use or a ‘low level’ threshold for room dividers is offered and both come complete with integral locks while an adjustable jamb enables the fine tuning needed for the perfect fit.
