Highly effective control of invasive plants with DuPont™ Plantex®

Platinium

DuPont™ is a science company. Based on our expertise of over 40 years in the landscaping industry together with our unique technology, all DuPont™ Plantex®

products for landscape solutions are geared towards the control of green areas, in an environmentally friendly way whilst allowing for a better cohabitation in urban zones.

The Plantex®

range of products is continuously growing and has just been enlarged with our latest innovation, Plantex®

Platinium, a high

performance barrier against invasive plants such as Japanese knotweed. Plantex®

Platinium is not only ideal for the containment of Japanese knotweed on contaminated land, it also delivers a highly effective solution for controlling other invasive weeds on solar farms by completely covering the land prior to the installation of the PV framework and solar panels. As Plantex®

Platinium is UV stabilised it can also be used without a topping layer of stones or shingle. With its dark green colour, the fabric integrates perfectly into the natural environment.

PLANTEX® PLATINIUM OFFERS A PROVEN PERFORMANCE AGAINST WEEDS

With its performance enhanced intrinsic strength, DuPont™ Plantex® Platinium is resistant to the most aggressive weeds from passing through, whether it’s left uncovered or not. From Japanese knotweed, couch grass, reed, giant reed, giant hogweed, marestail, horsetail, bamboo or himalayan balsam, Plantex®

Platinium will deliver the resistance

required. Following numerous trials by DuPont’s R&D team over several years in natural environments, at multiple locations, no breakthrough or regrowth has been observed. DuPont™ Plantex®

Platinium’s efficiency is

guaranteed for 8 years when left uncovered and lasts up to 35 years when completely covered with a top covering.

PLANTEX® PLATINIUM OFFERS A UNIQUE INTERVENTION FOR IMMEDIATE RESULTS

Once installed on an area contaminated by invasive plants, DuPont™ Plantex®

Platinium. DuPont R&D team has also shown

Platinium solution no longer requires any maintenance work for several years, unlike periodic chemical solutions or regular site mowing work. The site is clear, clean and shows visible results from the installation of DuPont™ Plantex®

through these projects a significant reduction in the risk of dispersion of roots ends (dispersion that would contaminate the surroundings) unlike other mechanical solutions as the mowing work mentioned above.

PLANTEX®

PLATINIUM OFFERS AN ANSWER TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE EU REGULATION AND UK HSE CHEMICALS REGULATION DIRECTIVE

The use of pesticides in green area is increasingly regulated. As part of the EU regulation and UK HSE Chemicals Regulation Directive, they will most probably soon be totally banned. DuPont™ Plantex®

fits today as an economical, ecological and aesthetic solution for the protection of sensitive areas like the capture of drinking water.

PLANTEX® PLATINIUM PROVIDES LONG-TERM PROTECTION OF INVESTMENT IN SOLAR ENERGY

Because of its durability (resistance to degradation by sunlight) DuPont™ Plantex®

Platinium solution prevents any kind of vegetation to grow upwards and present a shadow upon the solar collectors, whether photovoltaic or thermal panels. The solar plant equipment maintenance is considerably reduced and solar energy can be exploited to its maximum. With an additional non-organic cover (such as gravel), Plantex®

Platinium

ensures an optimal energy efficiency throughout the installation’s whole lifetime.

Platinium PLANTEX® PLATINIUM ALSO REPSECTS THE NATURAL BALANCE

OF THE SOIL DuPont™ Plantex®

Platinium solution, while providing an effective barrier

against invasive plants, still remains permeable to air and water. This permeability of the layer ensures respect for the natural balance of the soil by maintaining its biodiversity. Balanced water conditions maintain soil stability and avoid land settlement, or for example, landslip. Moreover, the installer does not need to manage the drainage of the covered area or the hydrostatic differential pressures.
