Tridonic launches ‘Out of the Box’ lighting solutions
The EM ready2apply recessed downlight includes all compo- nents for emergency lighting in one single box that includes light source, driver, battery and optic. Chris Slattery, Global Product Manager for Emergency Lighting at Tridonic, explains: “Our aim was to design a compact and easy-to-install product which can be inserted into the ceiling void through a minimal cut- out. It had to exceed all life- time and safety requirements and offer interchangeable lenses.” The EM ready2apply unit, a stand-alone emergency luminaire has been subjected to rigorous testing procedures and complies with the most stringent safety and reliability criteria. Its small battery can serve all possible applications.

New development in twistfoot Vulcan cleats from Ellis
Ellis has launched its new twist-foot Vulcan+ product. Designed for installation on
cable channel and ladder with inverted rungs, the new cleat features a unique pre- installed fixing mechanism. This new development is now said to significantly reduce total installation time and simplifies the ordering process’. It is also short circuit tested to meet the stringent require- ments of IEC61914. Stephen Walton, Ellis’ chief engineer, told UKPN: “We pride ourselves on having a market leading product range, and a global reputation as the number one cable cleat manufacturer, but we are not a company that will ever rest on its laurels. We are always looking at ways to enhance our current offering or add to it with innovative new solutions – and the twist-foot Vulcan+ is a perfect example of this approach.” He explains: “We’ve taken an already extremely successful product and developed it in a manner that broadens its appeal; not just in terms of channel usage, but also by making it truly quick-fit and easy to order.”
The twist-foot fixing mecha- nism operates by simply placing the Vulcan+ cleat into the channel and twisting it 90 degrees. It is said to be suitable for trefoil cables ranging in diameter from 19 to 58mm, and single cables between 30 and 104mm.

TSX300 a convenient and comprehensive solution for transformer and general substation testing
Megger has further increased the versatility of its
groundbreaking TRAX substation test system by introducing the TSX300 three-phase switchbox. Available as an optional accessory, this new unit allows three-phase transformers to be conveniently tested without the need to reconfigure the test lead connections for each phase. The added benefit is that switching between phases is controlled manually from the test set without the need for additional climbing. Also newly-introduced is the TDX accessory unit, which facilitates the use of TRAX test sets to perform tan delta and capacitance measurements. The TRAX/TDX combination can also be used to measure the excitation current of transformer windings and, with an optional test capacitor, to perform automatic tip-up tests and HV turns-ratio testing. Megger’s TRAX test sets have been specifically designed to offer
a convenient and comprehensive solution for transformer and general substation testing. of currents and voltages with high precision. The TRAX220 has a maximum AC current output capability of 200 A, while the TRAX280 extends this to 800 A. For both units this can be further extended to 2000 A with an optional current booster. Other key features of Megger’s new and innovative TRAX test
sets include state-of-the-art transformer winding resistance measurements with test currents up to 100 A true DC at up to 50 V compliance voltage; dynamic on-load tap changer (OLTC) measurements; exceptional interference suppression to secure accurate readings even in high noise switchyards.
