Industry rallies to aid Hurricane Areas

A number of fabricare-related organizations took immedi- ate steps to help the victims of the Houston and Miami hurricanes. The most dramatic was TRSA (Textile Rental Services Association of America), which cancelled its scheduled Annual Convention in Miami and gave attendees and sponsors the option of turning their fees into donations for disaster relief in both Florida and Texas.

TRSA President and CEO Joseph Ricci stated, “We wanted to be able to pump some of that money back into the local community so it can be put to good use. We offered members a refund, but more than half of them decided to donate all or a portion of their fees.” As a result, TRSA donated US$125,000 to relief efforts. In addition, the organization donated several hundred Annual Convention welcome boxes featuring water bottles and non-perishable food to homeless residents in South Florida.

Dexter Laundry is working closely with its distribu- tors in Florida, Texas and the Gulf Coast to help laundry owners recover from the recent storms. President Craig Kirchner said, “Thankfully, our distributors in each of these communities were back in operation quickly and have begun the important process of helping our cus- tomers rebuild.”

Kirchner detailed how the Dexter Technical Support Team is working with distributors to provide service tips to help assess and repair damage. Each distributor has been fully stocked with parts needed to get operations back up and running quickly. Where necessary, the com- pany is offering delayed loan payments. Dexter has pro- vided basic suggestions for preparing equipment for any future storms and urges customers to request and keep the tips on hand in case of future disaster.
