Sites at the edge of the village are too remote to be aracve or easily reached by children and be acceptable to parents.

Other sites such as the ‘Old Pung Green’ and areas to the east of Hurst Road, were ruled out for a variety of reasons idenfied in discussion with NFDC officers.

The sports field at Barnes Lane recreaon ground is fully used, and the Carrington Lane play park now accommodates a much improved small football pitch and is too small to accommodate more play facilies aer its recent upgrade.

The Parish Council will shortly be conducng another final presentaon and survey of residents’ opinions on the amended proposed plans for improving facilies at the seafront and on any other alternave sites that might be preferred.

The 12 miles of ROWs have been walked and surveyed. Almost 90 problems were recorded on the 20 footpaths. These include: no yellow waymark signs, broken or missing fingerposts, obscured signs and gates, crops growing over ROWs, roen sles and ROWs overgrown with brambles, neles, ivy and elm scrub. A member of the Hampshire County Council (HCC) Access Team visited recently, to inspect some of the ROWs to the east of Lymore Lane, including the boggy area in Great Newbridge Copse. This is strictly in Hordle Parish, but the ROWs leading to and from it are in Milford Parish. HCC is disinclined to erect a bridge or a boardwalk here,

gates, which are next to a road, have been cleared by a voluntary working group and the yellow waymark signs will hopefully be replaced soon. Twenty volunteer walkers, mostly from Keyhaven, have been recruited to adopt a ROW. Some will acvely manage their ROW by cung vegetaon etc. and others will just walk the route and report any problems. It would really help these volunteers if more walkers could use the ROWs – and take their secateurs with them! Love Lane, westwards from the churchyard, was cleared of hanging brambles and 3 weeks later the brambles were back again. It is hoped that walks with a leader will be organised soon and a leaflet produced, so that people know where to find the ROWs.
