November 25-26 TheNutcracker LakeCitiesBalletTheatre performs its holiday classic, TheNutcracker, onNovember 25th and 26th at LakeDallasHigh School,Corinth, Texas. TheNutcracker is a favorite seasonal ballet ofwonder andmagic withmusic composed in 1891 byPyotr IllychTchaikovsky. The bal- let is performed in two acts,with an opening scene that takes us to a Victorian era party hosted by thewell-to-doMayor Silberhaus and his
family.Guests arrive bearing gifts,while children dance and play among the party festivities. Themayor’s young daughter,Clara, played by LBTmemberMorganHolloway, is soon enchanted by hermyste- riousGodfather,Drosselmeyer, played by our very special returning guest artist and former London FestivalBallet Principal artist,Kenn Wells,who bestows herwith the gift of a nutcracker. This simple gift will soon trigger a fanciful flight into amagical dreamworld as Scene Two introduces the audience to theNutcracker Prince, played by LBT
memberTrevinRalphs.Afrenzied battle ensues as the evilMouse King, played byRobert Stewart, and hisminionmice engage the Nutcracker Prince and his band of toy
soldiers.Clara and her new found prince escape harmand travel through amagical snowladen landscape of dancing fairieswhere they dance a beautiful snowpas, as Act I comes to a
close.Act II’s opening scene reveals beautifulGuardian Angels keepingwatch over delicate tiny angels and cherubs, as they glide across the stage in anticipation of the arrival ofClara and her charming prince. Scene Two of this second act gives the audience a true holiday treat as the SugarplumFairy, SarahLane,withAmerican Ballet Theatre and herCavalier, danced byDanielUlbricht,withNew YorkCityBallet,NY, dazzleClarawith unparalleled grace and power. The Land of Sweets is filledwith dance and delight asClara is treated to performances by dancers fromall around the globe. The Sugarplum Fairy helpsClara find herway homewith awarmembrace and a fond adieu, as the dancers all bid her farewell and sweet dreams. Themagi- cal story closes as theNutcracker Prince deliversClara to the safety of her own bed and gives her a final salute, a promise that hewill be ever watchful. Marvel at thewondrous staging and flawless choreography ofKellyKilburn Lannin.
