Inside ICI New Edition of Atlas of Casting Defects Release T

he Publications Committee is set to release a new revision of the Atlas of Casting Defects. This new

release was updated and reformatted based on feedback from ICI Members. This restructured Atlas combines the previous versions of the Atlas of Shell Defects and the Atlas of Casting Defects into a single publication.

The new

edition addresses all the potential causes of a casting defect broken down by wax, shell or foundry.

In addition, there is a new tool,

the "Defect Identifi er," which can assist in pinpointing a particular defect. The only defects which are not included in this Atlas are wax defects which should be caught and corrected in the wax department. These defects are still covered in the Atlas of Wax Pattern Defects. The ICI will launch an online version

of this publication which provides increased ease and fl exibility thus reducing the time necessary to identify and resolve casting defects. If you have any feedback for the Pub- lications Committee on this or any other publication provided by the ICI, please contact Julie Markee or any member of the Publication Committee:
