Mega-star Brian in tune with protecting wildlife


IT’S not every day that you wel- come a mega-star to school, but that’s exactly what happened at Ditton Infants when Brain May pitched up for assembly. Stopping to tune one of the stu-


dent’s guitars as he made his way around the Pear Tree Lane school, the Queen guitarist was there to provide backing for the Amazing Grace campaign, highlighting the plight of Britain’s hedgehogs. And his softly-spoken voice and informed approach proved a mas- sive hit with the children, most of whomwere more excited about his message than his mega-star status or the BBC film crew in toe. Head Mrs Claire Lewer (45) – a self-confessed Take That fan – said: “It was an incredibly exciting day for everyone, especially the par- ents. While the youngsters knew that Brian was the guitarist in Queen and performed on top of Buckingham Palace, they were more interested in what he had to say about saving hedgehogs, which was the whole point.” The school, which is applying for lottery funding to build a wildlife
