This is the tenth annual training day organised by the IRE, this year will focus on the design of monolithic linings.


The course is aimed at people who work with monolithic refractories but need to enhance their knowledge of lining design. Some prior knowledge of refractory materials is assumed.


The course aims to provide an introduction into issues concerning the engineering design of a monolithic lining including:


• DESIGN AND SELECTION OF ANCHORS • ANCHOR INSTALLATION AND SPACING • FIBRE REINFORCEMENT • DESIGN AROUND NOZZLES, FLANGES AND CONNECTIONS • FORMWORK AND VIBRATION • THERMAL EXPANSION • DRY-OUT AND WARM UP
