‘£1m prize will help us care for sick daughter’

A MAIDSTONE couple have won a million on the lottery – and it could not have come at a better time.

Adam and Amy Pryor (pictured)

say the win is especially sweet as it will enable them to be there for their eight-month-old daughter, Char- lotte, who has significant health problems. Adam said: "I don’t really believe

in fate but on this occasion I think I might. The timing of our win really couldn’t have been better as until last Tuesday the futurewas grim. “Charlotte needs almost constant one-to-one care and has frequent hospital appointments sowe had de- cided thatAmy would not return to work as originally planned. "While it was a decision we were

happy with for Charlotte, it meant I was taking all the overtime I could, and then barely sawmylittle family. "Now, when we needed it most,

Lady Luck has stepped in and we couldn’t be more relieved.” They scooped the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker top prize onTues- day,August 29.

said: “It goes without saying we would give it all back in a heartbeat if it meant that Charlotte’s health problems would vanish but that’s not possible so instead this money will mean that we can do our ab- solute best for her, now and for the future. “We can buy a family home that

Adam said: “I was sorting out Charlotte when I saw the email but guessed itwas a couple of quid so ig- nored the message. "About an hour later, I decided to

check the amount and slightly bleary-eyed thought it was £1,000 untilmysleepy brain processed that there were too many noughts and the win was a million. I turned to Amy saying ‘we’ve won a million’ but she just told me to shut up and stop being so silly!” Amy, a former nursery manager,

will meet all our needs andnewcars for us both, but it’s the little things that this win will help with. “The endless trips to London for hospital appointments were an ex- pensive exercise. And we always had to work out if we could afford for Adam to take a day of unpaid leave to attend an important ap- pointment. “Those financial considerations

just won’t matter now and we can instead put our energies into Char- lotte.

“It’s just amazing, and goes to

show you never know what the fu- ture will hold. A million pounds won’t change Charlotte’s health but it will dramatically change how we can manage it and that’s a miracle in itself.”
