A DESIGNER clothes shop in Maidstone has shut after two decades of trading in the county town.

it isunknownwhythe company de- cided to close. It is also not known if any members of staff lost their jobs in the closure. Zee & Co’s operations director, Joanne Johnstone, was unavailable for comment. Itswebsite boasts: “For more than

three decades, Zee & Co have brought designer fashion to the high street. “In that time,we have introduced hundreds of exquisite clothing brands to our customers via our shops and online retail site. “Our ever-growing roster of de- signers and fashion labels means thatwe continue to provide a mix of the very latest styles and innova- tions, from new or up-and-coming labels to the established designer powerhouses. “We're as passionate about cloth-

ing as our customers, so that's why we stock garments from amongst

the best brands in the world.” The outlet – which specialises in clothing for men, women and chil- dren – faced protests earlier this year over it decision to sell real fur but it is unknown if trade was af- fected.

Maidstone town centre currently

has a shop vacancy rate of nine per cent, slightly lower than the national average. Four other Zee & Co branches in London and Essex remain open for business and the company contin- ues to trade online. If you have a query on gift cards

Young dancers win backing

MAIDSTONE’S Mini DFuse has landed a new sponsor after storming to success at a string of dance tournaments. Just three months after forming,

the under-10s dance troupe earned a second place, rising to a first in three other competitions.

The troupe, part of the Dance Dynamics club, is backed by Digital Image Solutions in Goudhurst. Managing director Jerome

Lawford said: “Having kids of such a young age work sowell as part of a team and support each other is an important value to have.”

Road is finally resurfaced

BREWER Street has been given a much-needed re-surfacing. The road – plagued by the laying

of electrical cables, drainage col- lapses and failures –was left uneven and with sunken pavements. Nowthe road has been resurfaced

as a result of pressure from local Liberal Democrats, the party claims. Local Lib Dem councillor Nicola Fissenden said: “We would like to thank officers and the team for their management of the scheme and the residents for their forbearance.”
