BROAD STREET MINISTRY


During the hottest week of the summer, 15 high school youth and six adult leaders traveled to Philadelphia to serve through Broad Street Ministry (BSM). Using public transportation to reach neighborhoods in which they worked, these high school work-camp participants had the opportunity to relate with people who were experiencing homelessness. They heard their stories, shared meals, worked shoulder to shoulder, and extended their interactions to when they encountered each other on the street. They worked with BSM interns and staff to spruce up the property as BSM prepared for its new Youth Ministry roll-out. Of course, it wasn’t all work and no play…there was the hammock park, the walking tour of Philly, and Rita’s Water Ice!
