The September deadline for entry to all ten categories of the BIFA Freight Service Awards 2017 is now looming. Whether you have yet to make a start or are just making the final edits and tweaks, make sure that your entry is emailed to eventsoffice@bifa.org by 5pm on Monday 25 September. As previously reported, the entry process for 2017 has been simplified. All we need from you is 1,000 words on the Awards Entry form (download from www.bifa.org/enter- now/category-awards for the company categories or www.bifa.org/enter-now/young- forwarder-award for the young freight forwarder). A BIFA Member company may enter up to three categories, plus nominating individuals to the Young Freight Forwarder (YFF) category.

Ensure your entry gets noticed 1. Choose your category/ies – Visit the BIFA Awards website and read the category descriptions.

2. Speak to colleagues and your customer/s to get their input and permission.

3. Give yourself time, without interruptions, to write your first draft.

4. Ensure your submission follows the stated guidelines (Categories: introduction, 300 words; detail of project or service, 600 words; conclusion, 100 words. YFF: YFF article, 750 words; Manager’s reference, 250 words).

5. Outline the issue, explain your approach and solution, describe the outcome and results.

6. Save your submission and sleep on it for a couple of days before re-reading and refining the grammar and wording.

7. Proof read – enlist the fresh eyes of colleagues. Does it make sense to someone unfamiliar with the project?

8. Make final tweaks. 9. Deliver to BIFA before the deadline.
