Another family attending the games in Toronto is Michael and Deborah Mellon, and their children Ryan, Eve and Sarah. Michael served as aSenior Aircraftman in the Royal Air Force, and was discharged in 2005. He is competing in wheelchair basketball, athletics and sitting volleyball.
Michael’s wife Deborah said: “Last year Michael filled out the paper work for the games in Florida but at the last minute he decided not to proceed as he wasn’t emotionally or physically ready. This year Iencouraged and pushed for him to apply again even if it was just to get him back out socialising.
“During the whole selection process, myself and the children noticed positive changes in Michael. He had something
to work towards and he was determined to make it. When the date arrived and we found out he’d been selected for the UK Invictus Team Iwas so excited and happy for him. Iam extremely proud of what Michael has achieved over the last few months.

Michael’s parents are also joining us on this great adventure and feel privileged that they get to share this wonderful experience with Michael. Iknow it means alot to him to have his family by his side.
