“In the past six years Ihave had some incredible opportunities, from countless air-to-air photographic tasks across the globe, to photographing VVIPs, including President Barack Obama. During and after,Ioften think to myself how fortunate Iamtoget such opportunities, and furthermore, how lucky Iamtobepaid for it. Variation in the tasks we do keeps it enjoyable and exciting as well.”
•Your best project and why?
“I have been involved in several high profile jobs, including the 2013 G8
Conference, Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Celebrations, and various multinational training exercises across the globe. To name one would be difficult, but in 2016 Iwas fortunate enough to travel to the Mojave Desert in California. There, Icovered RAF Chinooks working alongside 40 Commando Royal Marines, and 4Regiment Army Air Corps. To successfully capture all three branches of the British Military working in unison, in achallenging and alien environment, was incredibly fulfilling.”
•What words of wisdom would you offer to someone reading this and inspired to become aPhotographer?
“Confidence is key.Learning to capture stills and video footage will come naturally with time, especially with the training we receive. To take control of asituation as asubject matter expert is incredibly important. We find ourselves working in challenging conditions, whilst having to deal with much higher ranks, including Royals and VIPs. Effectively it’s your domain, and you have to project yourself accordingly to get the results expected as a Professional Photographer.”
