a given day. Sheri is also specifically trained on how different foods affect various medical conditions and she is great at identifying the underlying cause of any symptoms you may be experiencing. Sher’s style is generally to make minor adjustments to what someone is eating instead of expecting them to completely change everything about their diet.

A personal nutrition plan is a great start point, but do you also struggle to change your eating habits or are you an ‘emotional eater’?

If you want to really understand what drives your food choices and change your eating habits, Core’s food psychologist, Dr. Claire Parkes, works alongside Sheri. Changing habits is hard, and if you are going to make the effort to improve the way you eat, you want to be sure that you are addressing the right eating ‘problems’ in order to get the results that you want. Many people believe they just need someone to tell them what to eat or to have ‘will power’. However, the real issue may be that they don’t know how to relax without food or alcohol or that they don’t know how to say “no” to unreasonable demands. Sometimes focusing on these issues is a much better investment of time and can pay off handsomely in the long run.

Dr. Claire Parkes

Don’t let your success get derailed by unhelpful thoughts. High level athletes know that unhelpful thought patterns can be the difference between winning and losing. Some people have very black-and-white thinking when it comes to food and eating and they believe that if they can’t eat raw, vegan, organic food 365 days per year, they might as well just stop trying and order a take away instead. This way of thinking is a hindrance, not a help. Healthy eating doesn’t have to be perfect. Food should always be a pleasure, so use small amounts of salt, sugar and healthy fats if that is what is needed to make nutritious food taste great. The goal is to make nourishing your body a joyful priority and a fabulous complement to your already amazing life.
