UMB E R TO GIANNINI The Inbetweeners Stuck in a hair rut? We’re here to help.

When did you last change your hair? If you have to think about the answer to this for longer than a few seconds, chances are that a change is long overdue. There’s nothing wrong with sticking to a style that suits you but have you considered what a mood-booster a new cut or colour can be?

Changing your hair doesn’t have to mean a drastic makeover but it’s important to evolve your style from time to time. Trends are fast-paced and while pastel shades and space buns aren’t for everyone, a few teaks here and there can really bring your look up to date. Here are my suggestions:

l Long hair, don’t care? Many clients stick to a long style for it’s versatility – then do nothing more adventurous than pop it into a ponytail! If you love to wear your style past your shoulders, consider a few face-framing layers. Not only do they add texture and movement, they’re also incredibly flattering.

l If your hair colour has been the same since Bananarama were big (the first time around) why not mix things up a little? Summer is the ideal time to go a little lighter – balayage or highlights can mimic the sun’s natural lightening effect and can be low-maintenance if you stick to shades close to your base colour. Alternatively, ask your colourist about semi- permanent shades that will work with your natural hue – red is my favourite right now and there’s a shade to suit virtually everyone.

l Use your imagination! Crops can get a new lease of life thanks to dazzling accessories, scrunch straight hair with salt spray for a gorgeous beachy texture or try a fringe to inject the ‘wow’ factor into a tired bob.
