Dear Friends, Well this is my ninth and final magazine. It has been an enjoyable task over the last three years. Thank you to all those who have contributed – I have made so many friends and I have mastered so many new skills. Never say you can’t do a job because you don’t have the expertise. We are never too old to learn.

Clubbing at the Pryzm
The introduction of new officers was made by Zena Coles as follows.
The new Association President Liz Thomas member of Great Yarmouth Club District 8 was presented with her chain of of- fice and who then said she was looking forward to her year of fun, friendship and food!
Vice President Ann Acaster Club member of York Vikings in District 4 a Lancashire lass who married her Yorkshire lad.
Treasurer Katie Dalton in St. Helens Club District 128, Closing Entertainment
It has become a tradition to end the final session of Conference with an item of entertainment – who can forget Trish’s dancing display at Glasgow.
This year we were entertained by the Bevox Choir, a contemporary community choir from Nottingham and the surrounding area. Tim Allen is their founder and conductor and the choir is open to all who enjoy singing.
The audience enjoyed their spirited rendering of well known songs. They were then joined by our own District 7 Choir. Both choirs sang “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and then the audience joined in with the choirs to sing “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”.
A bright and sunny ending to a wonderful Conference. Enid Law

The fun and ‘filarious’ good humour which Nottingham Conference began with, ended on Wednesday night when yet another layer of the onion was peeled off President Zena!
Dancing was well under way at 8.30pm with the huge purple glass pryzm flashing above us while DJ Spanner played “It’s Raining Men” followed by “Girls just want to have fun”. 1000 Inner Wheel Members had taken over the City’s main nightclub for the evening!
Security and Bar Staff were clearly surprised at the ageing clientel but expressed their own delight at the choice of music we had made. YMCA, New Nork New York and Grease never sounded better at the end of a superb Conference in Nottingham (especially with
Robin Hood to welcome us all each morning!) After a while with all the jigging bodies and arm swaying Association President Zena took to the dance floor in true ‘demob spirit’ and was promptly serenaded by special guest star smoothie Campbell Bass to an old favourite “Unforgettable”.
Dress code was clearly anything goes - but isn’t that normal for clubbing?
There seemed to be a predominance of green outfits – had Robin’s Men of Sherwood Forest infiltrated the nightclub?! I know several long pheasant feathers in green caps appeared when numbers on the dance peaked - but no they were D129 members from Devon enjoying all the fun.
As we all melted away at 10.45pm – a much longer line of Taxis than normal was waiting outside Pryzm Nightclub to take us back to our hotels………
what a night!! Elaine Morris
