EYES CHINA OPENINGS JUMEIRAH GROUP


With 21 hotels in 10 destinations around the world, the brand plans to broaden its reach in the Far East


Jumeirah Group has 19 new hotel management agreements in the pipeline, with 10 projects slated for opening in Asia. Eight of those are in China, with scheduled properties in Nanjing, Qiandaohu, Wuhan, Sanya, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Macau and Haikou. Jumeirah Nanjing opens this year, while Jumeirah Guangzhou is slated to open in 2019. The Haikou property will be an exclusive golf community on a private island in Hainan, and is due to open next year. There are also plans for further expansion in the Middle East, Asia and Europe. rah Group, said: “We have continued to grow as an industry leader. In December 2016, Jumeirah Al Naseem at Madinat Jumeirah opened in Dubai and marked the completion of one of the world’s leading luxury resorts. “We have a robust and growing pipeline of


exciting new openings, including properties in Oman, Jordan and Jumeirah Sa’adiyat Island in


Abu Dhabi, all set to open within the next three years. In addition, we have 10 projects under development in Asia with properties in Bali and Malaysia, as well as eight in China.” Jumeirah Nanjing is set to open in Q3 2017.


The brainchild of British architect Zaha Hadid, the mixed-use development is in the Hexi business district, and will be home to a conference centre, office and retail space, a four-star hotel and a luxury Jumeirah property. Comprising 250 rooms, including 32 suites, a Chinese speciality restaurant will be at the heart of the hotel’s culinary offering, while an executive club lounge, business centre, indoor pool and Talise Spa complete the facilities. MAJOR EXPANSION FOR ROTANA WITH 14 NEW PROPERTIES


Homegrown success story Rotana is poised for further expansion with 14 new hotels expected to open in 2017, including five properties in the UAE and four in Saudi Arabia. Omer Kaddouri, President & CEO of Rotana,


said: “In the UAE, the new properties will contrib- ute 1,082 new rooms in 2017. We will be open- ing Capital Centre Rotana in Abu Dhabi that will especially cater to business travellers. A five-star resort, Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas, will also be unveiled this year in the capital. “Saudi Arabia will witness the launch of


four new projects under the Centro by Rotana brand: Centro Waha and Centro Olaya in Riyadh, Centro Salama in Jeddah and Centro Corniche in Al Khobar. Together, they will add a total of 888 keys to our existing inventory in Saudi Arabia.” Founded in Abu Dhabi in 1992, Rotana will manage a portfolio of more than 70 properties throughout the Middle East, Africa, Southern Asia and Eastern Europe by the end of 2017. Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has launched a promotional smartphone app in a bid to boost visitor numbers. The Visit Ajman application provides a


gateway to the emirate with a detailed guide to its hotels, culture, heritage and events. It also contains the latest tourism industry news. Available from both the Android Play Store and the Apple Store, user-friendly features include a map of Ajman, panoramic images of the emir- ate, exclusive filters, voice search capability and social network integration.
