n a conversation with one of my dearest friends over the Thanksgiving weekend, we discussed the 2016 election, briefly. I
wanted to make sure that we did not spend our time together on a non-starter, but we found solace in palavering on how to adapt to the opportunities amidst the “chaos.” After some back and forth, I offered what
I believe is an American opportunity. Being the transportation geek that I have become, I want to bring to light something that was missed or not evaluated properly by us in the 2016 Election. The-then President-Elect
Trump was right about America’s standing on infrastructure investment. Many coun- tries are, as my mother would say, “warming us up,” a colloquialism of Deep South Black American culture to convey that someone is being ‘disposed of’. This is especially relevant to allocation of resources for transportation projects. However, I question if America needs a trillion-dollar infrastructure vision. While the rest of the world is heavily lever-
aged on infrastructure spending, it behooves us (America) to adjust our focus on capitalism and envision an expansive intelligent infra-
