In My Place is a strand of work produced by Heart of Glass that brings performance to the heart of people’s homes and workplaces. In My Place sees hundreds of people from across the borough have the opportunity to host unique performances in their homes for friends and family. We acknowledge the many and varied barriers that can prevent people from accessing cultural venues, and through this programme we wanted to create unique and high quality experiences, that happen on people’s own terms, in their place, questioning who gets to make art and where it gets made in the process. The programme began in Spring 2015 with specially produced performances by musicians from the world renowned Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. People from across St Helens were invited to register their home, workplace or specific locations important or significant to them as ‘arts venues’. A second phase of work continued in spring 2016 working in collaboration with Wunderbar on a programme of work titled ‘Opera Helps’.
