The Fast Lane to Success: LANE Trailer Mfg. Co. Tracks

The Fast Lane to Success: LANE Trailer Mfg. Co. By Meghan Ryan, NATM Communications Director

Lane Mesenbrink, founder of LANE Trailer Manufacturing Company, has been in the trailer industry for 26 years, with thirteen of those years spent co-owning with his wife Marlo.

“As a small business owner and a family man, it was very important to share the challenges and successes of running this company with my wife Marlo. Being a family

business has really been our fast ‘lane’ to success,” said Mesenbrink. “Our children are now involved and learning about the company’s interests, are attending trade shows, and already share the same vision of the company’s future. While we will not pressure our children into taking over the business, it has still been a wonderful learning opportunity for them as young professionals and a bonding experience for all of us.”

LANE Trailer Mfg. Co. started with three people in a small shop in Story County, Iowa, climbed to six employees and expanded into a bigger building located in Boone, Iowa in 2014. By moving to this new location, LANE Trailer is now able to have its trailer manufacturing facility and service/parts building in one convenient location and now employs thirteen people.

“Having to expand to a larger location was a great problem to have. It meant that business was doing well, and it was an opportunity to combine our services into one convenient location for our customers. It took months to smoothly transition to the new facility without losing productivity, but in the end, it was such a smooth transaction that we closed the doors at the old location one day, and then were up and running at our new place the very next!”

This location services all makes and models of trailers, carries a wide selection of trailer parts, performs DOT inspections, and of course has examples of their trailers on

“We always knew that we wanted to become involved in NATM and certify our compliance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards,” said Marlo Mesenbrink, co-owner of LANE and wife of Lane Mesenbrink. “It was only after our recent expansion to a new facility that we finally joined. We are very excited to have NATM keeping us up-to-date on current laws and legislation for trailer manufacturers as well as certifying our products’ compliance. It helps take the guess work out, and ensures that we our offering our customers the highest quality,” said Marlo Mesenbrink.
