PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE

SUPPLYING MORE THAN JUST PARTS

Glasgow based components and consumables supplier, Renewable Parts Ltd, believes in supplying more than just parts. By providing a total supply solution, RPL can ensure, high levels of turbine availability at low and in some cases completely predictable cost.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP Currently working with RWE at Little Cheyne Court, the largest Nordex N90 site in Europe, RPL has significantly strengthend the supply chain. As Angus D’Arcy Drake, Head of Maintenance & Monitoring Services at RWE Innogy UK Ltd, puts it: “Anticipating emerging parts requirements and acting fast is critical to maximising turbine availability. Throughout our partnership the level of proactivity that RPL has shown has ensured a smooth operation and we have been delighted with the experience.”

INTEGRATION

Crucially this has been achieved by integrating RPL personnel into the onsite team of technicians. By working with the operational team, upcoming work at the site is identified, allowing Renewable Parts Ltd to have any exceptional spares ready for the start of work. This working together approach removes traditional barriers between customer and supplier creating a one team culture, speeding up decision making and providing more opportunity to think ahead.

Technicians have total confidence in availability of parts and consumables because stock at the depot is continuously monitored by an onsite Renewable Parts engineer and maintained at agreed levels.

FEATURE SPONSOR

REGULAR REPORTING

Consumption is regularly reviewed by means of dedicated monthly reporting and quarterly management meetings, allowing the value of stock on the shelf to be optimised. Using this detailed consumption data, managers are able to keep track of individual turbine costs and failure trends, without expending in-house resource.

COMMITMENT

Renewable Parts is committed to taking cost out of the customer’s operation, not only by ensuring availability whilst reducing inventory levels, but also through a refurbishment programme. By having an engineer onsite, the company can determine, through value, usage and technical risk, which components are suitable for refurbishment. The resulting parts repairs enable them to not only deliver appreciable cost savings to the customer but to also form a deeper working relationships with the supply chain to strengthen alignment.

In a world with investors demanding ever higher availability at even lower costs, operators need flexible supply solutions which are more than just parts. It is clear that RPL’s innovative approach is paying dividends at Little Cheyne.
