Reverie Caffe Opens at 21 Front Street

T

he story behind

Megan & Francesca Denaut

Reverie Caffe, Pa t te rson, NY’s, newest breakfast and lunch spot, is a familiar one—some- thing about necessity be- ing the moth- er of inven- tion. Or as owners Me- gan and Fran-

cesca Denaut explain it, “We’d been waiting for a place to enjoy great conversation, good food, coffee and espresso, but sadly that didn’t exist in Patterson. So we decided to make it ourselves.” The sisters set out to create “a place with

a life-giving atmosphere in which to enjoy creative eating and authentic espresso.” The restaurant they opened in October is so much more.

Although Reverie Caffe offers a unique menu of salads, paninis and soups, patrons are also encouraged to orchestrate their own meals, Francesca says. “Any item can be tailored around your personal dietary desires, whether they be vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free. Almost everything is made in- house, so every single ingredient is known. Thanks to our world-traveled, Ritz-Carlton- trained chef, Robert Timan, we’re able to offer health-conscious snacks and meals at a great price.” Even with that worldly influence, Rev-

erie Caffe likes to keep it local, using coffee beans from Bear Mountain Coffee Roasters in nearby Mahopac, and herbal teas from Harney and Sons in Millerton. “Teaming up with them allows us to bring our custom- ers a great product while supporting other businesses right in our own neighborhood,” Megan says. “Small towns thrive on local businesses, and being able to work together helps everyone.”

Reverie Caffe, 21 Front Street, Patter- son, NY, also offers takeout by phone or text (845.818.0044). For more info, visit ReverieCaffe.com or Facebook.com/ ReverieCaffe.

Meditation Retreats at Ganesha Spa in Peekskill

M

any westerners are intimidated by the idea of meditation because they think it requires stillness and silence. “For most of us, accumulated stress in our body-mind makes that difficult,” says Irinia Ionina, owner of Ganesha Spa in Peekskill, NY. “Before we can hope to access our inner powerhouse of con- sciousness, we need to let go of our tensions. Most of the meditations we do at Ganesha Spa are specifically designed for a western mind by enlightened master Osho. They are active, moving meditations guided with music.” Ionina, who has been a meditator for more

than 20 years, says the practice is a path to personal fulfillment. “If you want to live a more fulfilled life, first you will want to know your potential, who you really are,” she says. “Meditation is the route to that knowing. It is the methodology of the science of awareness.”

Along with a weekly meditation class, Ganesha Spa offers full-day retreats

to allow for a deeper, more intense meditative process. “It doesn’t matter where you start or how advanced you are, meditation is the inner process, and the best meditation is the one you are doing,” Ionina says. The spa’s next two retreats, called “Opening the Heart,” are on December 5 and January 10. “The program will include Sufi and Zen meditations, yoga, dance, chakra healing treatments and a delicious vegetarian breakfast and lunch,” she says. “It will be a perfect way to end this year and have a good start for another.”
