INDUSTRY NEWS Forest fairs join forces

and Elmia, whose fairs include the world’s leading bioenergy fair, have agreed to combine their fairs to create a strong and timely meeting place in the forest industry. Starting in 2016, the previous forest industry and bioenergy fairs will all form part of International Wood Biorefining Week in Stockholm from 24-26 May.

“This will be a long-term col- laboration together with our joint partners,” explained Marcus Bergström, CEO of Adforum. “The forest industry is experiencing very powerful change in which synergies and integration between various sectors in the industry are increasingly important. Our cus- tomers have long desired fewer, more multi-faceted, bigger and, above all, more timelier meeting places in the industry where they can meet relevant business part- ners and customers. Now, we can finally offer them that.” The three events included in International Wood Biorefining Week are International Pulp & Paper Week, World Bioenergy and Bioeconomy Innovation Forum. International Pulp & Paper Week continues the tradition of fairs for the pulp and paper industry that have been organised by Adforum since 1968.

organised by Elmia and its partner, Svebio, since 2004 and has for ten years been an important market- place for suppliers and purchasers of products, technology, services and expertise in the bioenergy sector.

“Thanks to Sweden’s leading position in the bioenergy field, it has been possible to develop World Bioenergy into a global event with participants from 80 countries,” commented Torbjörn Johnsen, Business Manager – For- estry at Elmia.

Bioeconomy Innovation Forum is an event for new and innovative products from the forest industry. The focus is on bioplastics, textile fibres, nanocellulose, carbon fibre, packaging, biochemicals and wooden structures. Exhibitors at this event will encounter not only visitors from the forest industry,

but also from other industries with an interest in bio-based products. In 2016, the three fairs will be held concurrently in the same hall at Stockholmsmässan and the conferences will also be integrated with the fairs.

The Swedish Bioenergy Associa- tion (Svebio), which is one of the world’s leading bioenergy associa- tions, will be involved in the World Bioenergy event. VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the leading research and technology company in the Nordic region, and Innventia, a world-leading research institute that works with innova- tions based on forest raw materi- als, are conference partners for the Bioeconomy Innovation Forum. “The forest industry is becom- ing ever broader nowadays and it feels both good and important that we can jointly offer customers

a marketplace where all stakehold- ers can meet and new partnerships and business deals can be made,” confirmed Torbjörn Johnsen. “Sweden and Finland have a special position with regard to the shift towards a bio-based society and the driver of this development is the forest and forest industry. It feels totally right that we are now locating this new joint interna- tional event in Stockholm.” More information from www.pulppaperweek.com or www.elmia.se/worldbioenergy

Major rebrand for Sustainability Live

In 2016, Sustainability Live has announced that the exhibition will have a new name, part of a major rebrand of the whole energy and sustainability offering of the show organiser Faversham House. Extensive third-party research showed that the audience and supplier community wanted a single brand to integrate content across the company’s

whole website, conferences and exhibition portfolio. So, Sustainability Live, NEMEX and Energy Recovery become edie2016 at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, from 17-18 May, next year. The research showed it was the obvious choice, because www.edie.net has been a trusted part of the workflow of more than 60,000 energy, environment,

facilities and sustainability professions for almost 20 years. The rebrand follows a successful 2015 show, which saw an increase in both visitor and exhibitor numbers driven, in part, by the introduction of major new show features. These included a strategy-focused conference under the headline ‘From risk to resilience’, alongside the event’s

best CPD-accredited, practical seminar programme to date. As this year, the exhibition will co-locate with Utility Week Live, the UK’s first and only event dedicated to the business, operational and technical needs of the UK’s water, electricity and gas utilities.
