Three Cheers for Truck Drivers Arkansas celebrates drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week By ATR Staff On September 16, Arkansas
joined the nation in celebrating the 26th annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (September 14-20), by distributing over 500 free lunches and goodie bags in North Little Rock, Ark. at the TA Petro Stopping Center on I-40. Drivers shared over lunch, played games and even enjoyed a concert by Lindsay Lawler on her Highway Angel Tour.
Truck Driver Appreciation Week is
an event designed to reflect, appreci- ate and celebrate the truck drivers in the United States that move America’s freight safely and securely every day. The United States employs 3.2 mil- lion truck drivers with a total industry employment of 7 million, or one of every 16 people working in the United States. In 2013, the trucking industry hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight, or 69.1 percent of total U.S. freight tonnage. Twenty-two (22) corporate
members of the Arkansas Trucking Association donated food, refreshments, goodies and volunteers to pull off our association’s biggest appreciation event ever. The drivers were grateful for this outpouring of thanks, and the ATA would like to extend its appreciation to the companies which made the event possible.
Darrel Smith (Cummins MidSouth),
Gary Horn (Utility Tri-State), and Sharon Rounds (TA Petro) prepare gift bags
for all the drivers who visited TA Petro Stopping Station.
