ROYALE: TREASURES ON THE STRIP

CASINO

So much of what we visualize when we think of Las Vegas revolves

around a roulette wheel, slot machines, a craps table or a high-stakes betting lounge. Though in truth, gambling accounts for only 36 per- cent of what makes up the Vegas strip, leaving 64 percent of the city’s revenue raised from other sources. The bulk of what happens in Las Vegas, does so because we stay and eat there. Hotel and food account for approximately 41 percent of revenue, with the rest coming from the plethora of entertainment choices.

SO, YOU MIGHT ASK, WHAT IS THE PLETHORA ABOUT? Though I have been a frequent visitor to the city,

twice annually for six years in my previous incarna- tion as a buyer, I have been away for nearly three. In Vegas time, that can produce many an alteration. Change it has, but for me, the underlying reasons

to visit are essentially still there. I don’t gamble, aside from begrudgingly dropping the occasional quarter in a slot machine, that is not my favorite reason to vacation there. I go because of the endless entertain- ment possibilities, the world-class treatment you receive when there... and of course, the food.
